A home for Aotearoa's startup community
startups.org.nz is a community project where New Zealand founders and engineers say what they're building, find who they need, and connect directly. No gatekeeping, no fees, just a calm place to find each other.
Why it exists
Good people are out there building, and just as often, looking. A founder needs a first engineer. An engineer wants to join something early. A solo builder is hunting for a cofounder who shares the kaupapa. In a country our size, the hard part is simply finding each other.
So this is deliberately simple: post what you're building or what you're after on the board, browse what others have posted, and reach out using the links on their profile. That's it. The connection is yours to make and yours to keep.
What we stand for
A few principles that keep us honest.
Free for everyone
No investors, no fees, no ads. It's free for every founder and engineer, and built to stay that way.
Connections happen off-platform
We're a noticeboard, not a walled garden. Posts and profiles show your own links so people reach out however suits you. We don't lock the conversation inside.
Privacy-first
We keep only what's needed, you stay in control of your data, and sign-in is handled by Microsoft Entra. See our privacy statement (NZ Privacy Act 2020).
Open about what's next
We build lean and in the open. The roadmap is public, and what comes next is shaped by what the community actually uses.
Who's behind it
It's an independent, community-run project, built and maintained by volunteers from the New Zealand tech community, for the New Zealand tech community.
If it helps even a handful of people find the right person, it's done its job, and that's what keeps us going.
Find your people
Join the community, post to the board, and help it grow.
